The Mountain West All-Conference Women’s Volleyball awards, as selected by the league's 11 head coaches, were announced today. Colorado State senior Samantha Peters was named MW Player of the Year, the seventh Ram to earn the league’s top honor, while Rams’ head coach Tom Hilbert was selected MW Coach of the Year. New Mexico’s Julia Warren was named MW Freshman of the Year and Fresno State’s Holly Franks was voted MW Newcomer of the Year.
Peters, a native of Englewood, Colo., joins former Rams Angela Knopf (2000-2001), Melissa Courtney (2003-04), Mekana Barnes (2007), Danielle Minch (2009-10), Katelyn Steffan (2011) and Dana Cranston (2012) in earning the Conference’s top honor. Peters led CSU to its fifth straight MW regular-season title, and 11th overall. Peters, a middle blocker, finished the regular season leading the league in hitting percentage (.404) and second in total blocks (1.59) per set in Conference matches. She also averaged 2.64 kills and 3.51 points per set.

Franks, a senior transfer from Tollhouse, Calif., earned the MW’s Newcomer of the Year award after hitting .202 and averaging 2.84 kills per set in league play. A right-side hitter, Franks was one of the top servers in the Conference, finishing fourth with an 0.31 aces per set average in MW action.
Hilbert was named Mountain West Coach of the Year for the ninth time in the league’s 15-year history. Hilbert led the Rams to a historic 19-1 conference record and 28-1 overall record, including a MW record 27-match win streak to begin the season. Colorado State earned its 11th MW regular-season title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
San Diego State’s Raegan Shelton and Wyoming’s Erin Kirby were named to the MW All-Conference team for the third consecutive season.
Colorado State’s Deedra Foss, Wyoming’s Becky Stewart and New Mexico’s Miquella Lovato and Chantale Riddle made their second straight All-MW team. Peters and teammates Adrianna Culbert and Kelsey Snider, Fresno State’s Marissa Brand and Korrin Wild and UNLV’s Sekola Falemaka were honored for the first time. Warren was joined on the All-MW team by teammate Hannah Johnson. Foss was named the team’s designated setter, while Stewart earned the designated libero honor.
