COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2017 Mountain West Men's Golf Championship will be played on the Catalina Course at OMNI Tucson National (par 72, 7,194 yards) in Tucson, Arizona, April 21-23. It is the 11th consecutive year the tournament will be held at Tucson National.

All 11 Mountain West teams will participate in the 54-hole championship. Eighteen holes will be played each day (Friday-Sunday), with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. PT.

The Mountain West Network will be on-site providing coverage of all three days of the championship. MWN highlights and interviews along with photos, recaps and results will be available on the championship central page on TheMW.com. Defending champion UNLV enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed and ranked No. 14 in the nation. The Rebels are seeking their fourth MW title overall. UNLV looks to become the first team to win back-to-back Conference championships since New Mexico consecutive titles in 2013 and 2014. Three-time MW champion San Diego State is ranked No. 36 by Golfstat, while six-time Conference champion New Mexico holds the No. 45 ranking. 

Four individuals are ranked in the top 100 according to Golfstat. UNLV junior John Oda is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 10, followed by teammates Harry Hall (So.) at No. 43 and Shintaro Ban (Jr.) at No. 62. San Diego State junior PJ Samiere holds a No. 99 national rank.  

Six of last year’s top-10 individuals return in 2017, including defending medalist Trevor Clayton of Fresno State. The senior carded a 9-under par 207 (66-72-69) to edge out Nevada’s Cory Eddings (65-71-73) by two strokes. Nahum Mendoza III of San Diego State tied for third in 2016 with a 6-under par 210 (69-74-67). Wyoming’s Drew McCullough tied for sixth a year ago at 5-under par 211 (67-75-69), while Hall (72-72-68) and Oda (71-69-72) tied for eighth at 4-under par 212.

Fans and members of the media should be familiar with golf course etiquette. Admission is free, but the use of golf carts is prohibited.  Media must coordinate interviews through the MW media relations contact. All photographers and team videographers are required to wear an armband at all times when on the course. Armbands can be obtained from Dwayne Groff in the tournament headquarters located on the second level of the clubhouse.
