COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San José State sophomore Reina Zermeno was tabbed the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week. Colorado State sophomore Giselle Bentley was named the MW Pitcher of the Week, while San Diego State’s Cece Celluraearned the MW Freshman of the Week nod.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

REINA ZERMENO, SAN JOSÉ STATE

Sophomore, UTL, Sacramento, California/Sheldon HS

  • Logged a batting average of .533, an on-base percentage of .533 and a slugging percentage of 1.000 in her five starts for the Spartans.
  • Tallied six runs, eight hits and six RBIs in 15 at bats. Also tallied two doubles, one home run and two stolen bases.
  • Defensively, the sophomore logged eight putouts, 15 assists and no errors.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

GISELLE BENTLEY, COLORADO STATE

Sophomore, RHP, Corona, California/Centennial HS

  • Logged two wins for the Rams in the circle during the Iowa State series.
  • Notched a 1.50 ERA in 9.1 innings and threw four strikeouts.
  • Allowed only four hits, two runs and two home runs over the two games.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

CECE CELLURA, SAN DIEGO STATE

Pitcher, Glendale, California/Louisville HS

  • Pitched in three games for the Aztecs, including the 3-0 shutout win over Illinois.
  • Logged a 1-0 record with a 1.45 ERA over the course of 14.1 innings in the circle.
  • Recorded 11 strikeouts, no walks, holding opponents to a .211 batting average with only 12 hits across her three starts.
  • In the second game against then-No. 4 LSU, registered two strike outs and only gave up one hit on four hits, no walks.
  • Marked a career-high six strikeouts in 4.1 innings against McNeese to start the weekend.
  • Snagged the win against Illinois, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing only four hits, singles, no walks and struck out three batters.
