COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State swept week six of the Mountain West softball weekly honors. Sophomore Sydney Groves was tabbed the MW Softball Player of the Week, while senior Taylor Caudill was named the MW Softball Pitcher of the Week and rookie centerfielder Sophia Knight garnered the MW Softball Freshman of the Week nod.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SYDNEY GROVES, BOISE STATE

Sophomore, 1B, Meridian, Idaho/Eagle HS

  • Helped the Broncos to a 4-0 week at the City of Trees Classic with wins over St. Thomas, 10-9, Idaho State, 8-1, and Santa Clara, 8-0 (5) and 10-3.
  • Batted .400, going 6-for-15 on the weekend, including five home runs and 14 RBIs.
  • Recorded a 1.400 slugging percentage.
  • Logged at least one four-bagger and at least three RBIs in each game.
  • Posted a three-run home run against St. Thomas to push the Broncos to overcome a 5-0 deficit and win 10-9.
  • One of the sophomore’s five home runs was a grand slam in the final game of the weekend against Santa Clara.
  • Also contributed 11 putouts for the Blue and Orange.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

TAYLOR CAUDILL, BOISE STATE

Senior, RHP, Mission Viejo, California/JSerra Catholic HS

  • The senior started two of her three appearances on the weekend and went 2-0 with a save for the Broncos.
  • Logged a 0.50 ERA and a 0.571 WHIP on 14 innings in the circle.
  • Tallied 13 1/3 consecutive innings of shutout softball, allowing only eight hits, one earned home run.
  • Notched 20 strikeouts, 11 coming against Idaho State, marking a season high.
  • Allowed four hits in the five-inning, run-rule game one against Santa Clara.
  • Pitched two innings of no-hit relief for the save in the second Santa Clara game.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

SOPHIA KNIGHT, BOISE STATE

CF, Huntington Beach, California/Huntington Beach HS

  • Logged a batting average of .750 (9-for-12), slugging percentage of 1.250 and an on-base percentage of .800 in four starts for the Blue and Orange.
  • Tallied three extra-base hits: one double, one triple and one home run.
  • Against St. Thomas, was 2-for-3 from the plate with a walk, three runs and a grand slam to aid the Broncos in their 10-9 victory.
  • Contributed two stolen bases and nine putouts on the weekend.
