MW Announces Yearly Honors After Inaugural Gymnastics Championship

LOGAN, Utah – Following the completion of the first Mountain West Gymnastics Championship, the league awarded yearly accolades, including Specialists of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year and Gymnast of the Year.

2024 GYMNAST OF THE YEAR | 2024 BARS SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR
Emily Lopez, Boise State
Sr., Mission Viejo, California/Trabuco Hills HS
• Ranked first in the MW with an NQS of 9.930 on bars, the highest individual NQS on any event in the league.
• Ranked No. 19 nationally on the event.
• Ranked among the top 10 in the MW on beam (3rd) and vault (8th).
• Recorded a total of 10 Specialists of the Week honors during the season (bars 6x, beam 2x, vault 2x)
• Recorded a total of 10 individual titles during the regular season.

2024 FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Maggie Slife, Air Force
Fr., Oconomowoc, Wisconsin/Arrowhead HS
• Ranked first in the MW with an NQS of 39.340 in the all-around.
• Ranked No. 44 nationally in the all-around.
• Ranked among the top 10 in the MW on vault (3rd), bars (2nd) and floor (7th).
• Recorded a total of 17 individual titles during the 2024 season entering the MW Championship (vault 3x, bars 3x, beam 2x, floor 3x, all-around 6x)
• Tied the Falcons’ school record with a 9.950 on bars and set the program’s all-around record with a 39.400.

2024 VAULT SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR
Jaudai Lopes, San José State
Sr., Fairfield, California/Buckingham Charter Magnet HS
• Ranked first in the MW with a 9.865 National Qualifying Score (NQS) on vault.
• Ranked No. 77 nationally on the event.
• Was a four-time MW Vault Specialist of the Week this season.

2024 CO-BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR
Adriana Popp, Boise State
5th, Easton, Pennsylvania/Commonwealth Charter Academy
• Ranked first in the MW with an NQS of 9.895 on beam.
• Ranked No. 48 nationally on the event.
• Was a two-time MW Beam Specialist of the Week on the season.

2024 CO-BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR
Lauren Macpherson, San José State
Sr., Gilbert, Arizona/Perry HS
• Ranked first in the MW with an NQS of 9.895 on beam.
• Ranked No. 48 nationally on the event.
• Was a four-time MW Beam Specialist of the Week on the season.

2024 FLOOR SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR
Jada Mazury, San José State
5th, Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Bishop Carroll HS
• Ranked first in the MW with an NQS of 9.915 on floor.
• Ranked No. 43 nationally on the event.
• Was a four-time MW Floor Specialist of the Week this season.

2024 COACH OF THE YEAR
Tina Bird, Boise State
14th season
• Led Boise State to a national ranking of No. 30, the highest among members of the MW.
• Guided the Broncos to the top in the MW on bars and beam with team NQS of 49.210 and 49.190, respectively.
• Led BSU to a perfect 5-0 record against MW foes during the regular season.
• Coached individual gymnasts to a total of 25 Specialist of the Week honors.
