ATHENS, Ga. – The Pack concluded the 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with two top-25 finishes. Nevada had the most individual qualifiers in the Mountain West Conference this season with three.

Scarlett Ferris finished 25th the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.94. Her record-breaking championship seeding time was 51.49. Ferris swam her second lifetime best and beat her preliminaries time by half a second.

“Scarlett is just getting started in her career with us and we have so much to look forward to with her as she gets faster stronger and continues to improve her technical skills in our program,” said head coach Brendon Bray. “We can’t wait to support her and believe she has the potential to improve her placing next season at this meet after she got an early taste of the competition and has three more seasons to improve.”

Frederica Kizek recorded a 29th place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:11.91. Kizek was less than one-tenth of a second off her lifetime best, the current school record.

“We are so proud to see Frederica end her last competition at one of the fastest meets in the world,” said Bray. “This was the first time she had ever qualified for the NCAA Championships and equaled her time from conference. That’s all due to her hard work and dedication. We will miss her next season but so happy to see her go out with a really great swim.”

Melissa Mirafuentes qualified in all three diving events, one of ten divers in the country to qualify in all three diving events. Mirafuentes highest finish came in the platform event with a 22nd place finish and a score of 225.30. Mirafuentes finished 42nd in the 3-meter with a score of 241.05 and 46th in the 1-meter diving with a score of 225.30.

“So proud of Melissa to make this elite competition yet again,” said Bray. “She has been our rock at this meet year after year and it was so awesome seeing her compete all three boards.”

The championships were the final collegiate meet for both Mirafuentes and Kizek while Ferris wrapped up her freshman season. Mirafuentes concludes her career been named an All-American honorbale mention and joins the ranks of decorated diving alumni of the Wolf Pack program.
