COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State senior Jessica Kain has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Fresno State junior Rachela Pace was tabbed the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and Colorado State’s Kajsa Borrman was selected as the MW Women’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week.

Air Force junior Darek Hackett has been named the MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate Texas Tanner has been selected as the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. New Mexico’s Evans Kiplagat earned MW Men’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week honors.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
JESSICA KAIN, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Scotts Valley, California/Scotts Valley HS

  • Placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run at the Stanford Invitational with a SDSU senior class record time of 4:15.99.
  • Time ranks first in the Mountain West and 15th in the nation this season.

 

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
RACHELA PACE, FRESNO STATE
Junior, Dingli, Malta/De La Salle College

  • Placed second in the triple jump at the Stanford Invitational with a program-record mark of 13.12 meters.
  • Triple jump mark is the best in the Mountain West and sixth in the nation in 2024.
  • Also placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.73 meters.

 

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
KAJSA BORRMAN, COLORADO STATE
Loveland, Colorado/Loveland HS

  • Placed second in the hammer throw at the Jack Christiansen Invitational with a career-best mark of 62.06 meters.
  • The personal-best mark ranks first in the MW and 23rd in the nation this season.
  • Also placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 44.53 meters and seventh in the shot put with a mark of 12.31 meters.

 

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
DAREK HACKETT, AIR FORCE
Junior, Houston, Texas/Ridge Point HS

  • Finished second in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.01) and 400-meter hurdles (50.26) at the Texas Relays.
  • His 400-meter hurdle time broke the Air Force record that stood for 21 years. Also ranks sixth in the nation and leads the MW by more than two seconds this season.

 

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
TEXAS TANNER, AIR FORCE
Sophomore, Sheridan, Wyoming/Sheridan HS

  • Finished fourth in the hammer throw at the Bobcat Invitational with a throw of 66.99 meters, breaking the Academy record with a six-inch improvement.
  • Mark in the hammer throw leads the Conference and ranks 16th in the nation in 2024.
  • Also competed in the shot put at the Texas Relays, finishing 10th with a mark of 17.60 meters.

 

MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
EVANS KIPLAGAT, NEW MEXICO
Eldoret, Kenya/Friends Bwake Boys HS

  • Finished fifth in the 10,000-meter run at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 28:08.26, which is the third-fastest time in program history.
  • Time ranks fourth in the nation and first in the Mountain West this season.
