COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV senior Yuki Moriyama has been named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Utah State’s Enrique Karg has been named the MW Men’s Golf Freshman of the Week.

The weekly honor is the third of Moriyama’s career and second in the last three weeks. Karg is being honored for the first time.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
YUKI MORIYAMA, UNLV
Senior, Kanagawa, Japan/American Heritage Academy (Las Vegas, Nevada)
• Cruised to a five-stroke win at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The field included 120 golfers and 23 teams.
• Shot a career-low 17-under-par 199, tying for the fifth-lowest score in program history. Turned in rounds of 6-under 66, 3-under 69 and a career-best 8-under 64, notching a season-high 17 birdies.
• Eagled the par-5 16th hole in both the first and third rounds.
• Coupled with his victory at the All-American Intercollegiate on March 18-19, became the fourth Rebel to win consecutive events and first since 2018.
• Helped UNLV to a runner-up team finish with a season-low score of 835, which included a season-best 275 in the first round. The Rebels’ second-place showing was their second of the season and eighth top-10 finish.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ENRIQUE KARG, UTAH STATE
Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio de bachilleres del estado de Jalisco
• Tied for 60th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.
• Shot a 1-over-par 217, matching his best 54-hole score this season.
• After opening the tournament with an even-par 72 and a 4-over 76, capped the event with a career-best 3-under 69 to advance 26 spots in the final standings.
• Had Utah State’s second-best finish and helped the Aggies tie for 17th in the 23-team field, which included eight teams ranked in the top 100 nationally.
• Helped Utah State shoot 7-under 281 in the final round to finish at 1-over 865 for the tournament, its third-best 54-hole score of the season.
