COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State senior Sophia Medellin was tabbed the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while Colorado State’s Danielle Serna was named the MW Softball Pitcher of the Week. UNLV rookie Jesse Farrell was selected as the MW Softball Freshman of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SOPHIA MEDELLIN, FRESNO STATE

Senior, Infielder, Santa Clarita, California/Cal

  • Helped the Bulldogs to a 4-0 week with wins over San José State and Utah State.
  • Logged eight hits, including four extra-base knocks, in 16 at-bats, producing four runs and nine RBIs.
  • Also notched 31 putouts for Fresno State across the two series.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

DANIELLE SERNA, COLORADO STATE

Senior, RHP, Austin, Texas/Austin HS

  • Helped the Rams to a 2-0 week, sweeping New Mexico, while invoking the five-inning run rule in each game.
  • Completed a five-inning shutout in game two of the series, allowing only four hits and striking out three opponents.
  • Posted a 0.00 ERA on 55 pitches thrown for Colorado State.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

JESSE FARRELL, UNLV

Catcher, Henderson, Nevada/Liberty HS

  • Helped the Rebels to a 3-2 week, including a 1-1 record in league action against Boise State.
  • The catcher logged a .471 batting average with eight hits, including two doubles, two home runs, six runs and nine RBIs through five games.
  • Posted a .474 on-base percentage and a .941 slugging percentage.
  • Recorded 10 putouts for the Rebels from behind the plate.
