COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State senior Jessica Kain has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Colorado State junior Mya Lesnar was tabbed the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and Boise State’s Hanna Ackerman was selected as the MW Women’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week.

San José State newcomer Malachi Snow has been named the MW Men’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week, while Wyoming junior Daniel Reynolds has been selected as the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
JESSICA KAIN, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Scotts Valley, California/Scotts Valley HS

  • Clocked a time of 4:14.07 in the 1,500-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
  • Time is the fastest in the MW and ranks 20th in the nation in 2024.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
MYA LESNAR, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Alexandria, Minnesota/Arizona State

  • Won the shot put with a Conference-leading throw of 18.41 meters at the Beach Invitational.
  • Also placed third in the hammer throw with a Conference-leading mark of 63.47 meters at the Pacific Coast Invitational.
  • Shot put mark ranks fourth in the NCAA, while the hammer throw mark ranks 20th in the nation this season.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
HANNA ACKERMANN, BOISE STATE
Freshman, Bichl, Germany

  • Won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Beach Invitational, crossing the finish line in 10:25.09.
  • She is the ninth-fastest freshman in the nation and second-fastest freshman in the MW in 2024.
  • Also ran the 1,500-meter race at the Bryan Clay Invitational, clocking a time of 4:34.48.

 

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
MALACHI SNOW, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Freshman, Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Northwest HS

  • Won the 110-meter hurdles at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, registering a nation-leading time of 13.33.
  • Broke the San José State and Mountain West 110-meter hurdle record.
  • Also ran a leg of the 4×100-meter relay, clocking a time of 39.73.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
DANIEL REYNOLDS, WYOMING
Junior, Granby, Colorado/Chadron State

  • Broke the Wyoming program record in the hammer throw after registering a mark of 69.18 meters at the Beach Invitational. Mark ranks second in the MW and 15th in the NCAA this year.
  • Also competed in the hammer throw at Pacific Coast Invitational, placing third with a throw of 67.24 meters.
  • Recorded a personal-best mark of16.82 meters in the shot put at the Beach Invitational.
