COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State senior Peyton Allen was tabbed the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while Fresno State senior Taylor Gilmore was named the MW Pitcher of the Week. New Mexico rookie Katherine Brunner earned MW Freshman of the Week honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PEYTON ALLEN, COLORADO STATE
Senior, Infielder, Louisville, Colorado/Monarch HS
- Helped the Rams to a 2-0 series sweep over San José State.
- The senior went 4-for-4 at the plate, logging a 1.000 on-base-percentage and a 2.250 slugging percentage.
- Recorded seven runs and nine RBIs.
- Defensively, posted five assists and three putouts.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
TAYLOR GILMORE, FRESNO STATE
RHP, Broomfield, Colorado/Colorado State
- Went 1-0 in the circle, helping the Bulldogs win the series over UNLV.
- Pitched 12 innings, including two starts, limiting the Rebels to one earned run, one walk and 12 hits.
- Struck out a total of 12 batters in three appearances.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
KATHERINE BRUNNER, NEW MEXICO
Infielder, Katy, Texas/James E. Taylor HS
- Helped the Lobos to a 3-0 series sweep over Utah State.
- Recorded a .636 batting average with seven hits, five RBIs and two runs scored in four starts.
- Posted a .615 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
- Registered a multi-hit effort in three of four outings over the weekend.
