COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State junior Justin Hastings has been named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Utah State’s Enrique Karg is the MW Freshman of the Week.

The weekly honor is the third for Hastings and first since claiming a pair of freshman awards in 2022. The weekly honor is the second for Karg.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
JUSTIN HASTINGS, SAN DIEGO STATE
Junior, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands/Cayman International School
• Tied for second in a loaded 96-man field at the Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California.
• Shot a 3-under-par 207, getting better each day. Opened with a 1-over 71 before carding an even-par 70 and closing with a 4-under 66.
• His 66 in the third round was tied for the low round of the day and the second-lowest round of the tournament.
• Finished tied with the third-ranked amateur in the world, Stanford’s Michael Thorbjornsen, and one stroke back of the winner of the tournament, Arizona’s Filip Jakubcik.
• Helped San Diego State to a seventh-place finish in the 14-team field, which included 10 teams ranked in the top 50 nationally and five in the top 25.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ENRIQUE KARG, UTAH STATE
Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio de bachilleres del estado de Jalisco
• Shared the individual title at the Northern Colorado Spring Invitational at the Raindance National Golf Course & Resort in Windsor, Colorado.
• Shot an 8-under-par 136 over the course of the weather-shortened event, opening with a 5-under 67 and following that up with a 3-under 69.
• Collected his first collegiate win and became just the 11th Utah State golfer to win an event.
• Turned in his first career under-par finish and first career top-10 placing.
• Helped the Aggies to a 14-stroke win over the seven-team field. Utah State, which shot 14-under 274 in the first round and 7-under 281 in the second, has now won multiple tournaments in a season for the first time since 1995-96.
