COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State sophomore Shaquena Foote has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Fresno State senior Jordyn Bryant was tabbed the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and Bulldog teammate Liz Tarczy was selected as the MW Women’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week.

New Mexico newcomer Habtom Samuel has been named the MW Men’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week, while Colorado State sophomore Sam Mrky has been selected as the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
SHAQUENA FOOTE, SAN DIEGO STATE
Sophomore, Westmoreland, Jamaica/Petersfield HS

  • Clocked a time of 52.14 in the 400-meter dash at the Mt. SAC Relays.
  • Time is the fastest in the MW and ranks 23rd in the nation in 2024.
  • Also ran a leg of the 4×100-meter relay that placed seventh with a time of 43.79, which ranks 15th in the NCAA.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
JORDYN BRYANT, FRESNO STATE
Senior, Oakland, California/San Diego State

  • Placed second in the discus at the Mt. SAC Relays with a throw of 59.68 meters, the third-best mark in Fresno State history.
  • Mark ranks No 2 in the Mountain West and No. 7 in the NCAA this year.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
LIZ TARCZY, FRESNO STATE
San Diego, California/Scripps Ranch HS

  • Won the high jump at the Mt. SAC Relays with a personal-best mark of 1.77 meters.
  • Jump ranks fourth in Fresno State history and is the best mark in the Conference in 2024.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
HABTOM SAMUEL, NEW MEXICO
Freshman, Keren, Eritrea/Al Selef Salih

  • Won the 10,000-meter race at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open after crossing the finish line in 28:03.30.
  • Time ranks third in the NCAA and second in the West Region in 2024.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
SAM MRKY, COLORADO STATE
Sophomore, Fort Lauderdale, Florida/Cardinal Gibbons HS

  • Placed third in the pole vault at the Kit Mayer Invitational with a season-best clearance of 5.11 meters.
  • One of two Mountain West athletes to clear five meters this season.
