Countdown To Kickoff - Hawaii

  • Predicted Finish - Sixth in the West Division
  • Retuning/Lost Lettermen - 47/23
  • Returning/Lost Starters - 17/9
  • Key Returner - Senior DL Beau Yap

The Skinny - The Rainbow Warriors will bank on their senior depth to resurrect a program that went 1-11 in 2013 and 3-9 in 2012. Coach Norm Chow was expected to ignite a normally explosive offense, but saw that unit rank 72nd overall in scoring, with an average 27.4 points per game. Senior tailback Joey Iosefa, who played just five games last season, is back for Hawai‘i. Sophomore quarterback Ikaika Woolsey looks like the best fit for the team's spread offense. Woolsey was officially named the team's starting quarterback.

Says Chow, on naming a starting QB - "I think the rest of the team deserves to know who the quarterback is because that's the leader and that's the guy that's gonna have to take us where we gotta go. The days of the drop-back quarterback sitting in the pocket is gone. (Woolsey) runs, he lifts."
