COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The field is set for the 2015 Mountain West Women’s Soccer Championship, which gets underway Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the San Diego State Sports Deck, hosted by San Diego State University.
The six-team, single-elimination tournament, which runs through Saturday, Nov. 7, will feature all five matches live and for free on the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders. Live stats for each match will also be available on the 2015 MW Women’s Soccer Championship Central page.
San Diego State, which clinched its fourth straight regular-season championship, is the three-time defending tournament champion and enters the 2015 MW Championship as the No. 1 seed. The Aztecs finished regular-season Conference play on a 10-match win to capture the top spot with a 10-1 MW record (14-4-0 overall). San José State is the No. 2 seed, thanks to an 8-3-0 record in league matches. The Spartans (10-7-2 overall) and Aztecs each receive byes into Thursday’s semifinal round.
New Mexico (9-8-1, 7-3-1 MW) earned the No. 3 seed for the second consecutive season, while Wyoming secured the No. 4 seed with a 6-4-1 Conference ledger (10-5-4 overall). Colorado College (8-11-1, 6-5-0 MW) is the No. 5 seed, while UNLV (11-9-0, 6-5-0 MW) earned the sixth and final seed after the Tigers won the head-to-head tiebreaker versus the Rebels.
In Tuesday’s quarterfinals, No. 6 seed UNLV plays No. 3 New Mexico at 4 p.m. PT, while in the second quarterfinal match, No. 5 seed Colorado College takes on No. 4 Wyoming at 7 p.m. PT. The winner of Tuesday’s first match will play No. 2 seed San José State at 4 p.m. PT on Nov. 5 in the first of two semifinal matches, while either Colorado College or Wyoming takes on top seed San Diego State at 7 p.m. PT on Nov. 5.
The 2015 MW Women’s Soccer Tournament concludes on Saturday, Nov. 7 with the championship match, scheduled for a 7 p.m. PT start time.
