Colorado State Ranked No. 25 in AVCA Coaches Preseason Poll
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Colorado State volleyball team will begin the 2016 season ranked No. 25 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Preseason Poll. Voting was conducted by Division I head coaches, and the poll was released by the AVCA on Wednesday.
The Rams have been ranked in three consecutive AVCA preseason polls, and a total of 15 times under Head Coach Tom Hilbert.
CSU was ranked 12th to open the 2015 campaign and reached as high as No. 9 after the opening week of the season. After being ranked in every weekly poll of the 2015 season, the Rams have now been ranked for 282 weeks, which is tied for 13th-most all-time. CSU ended the year at No. 23 after making its 21st consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, marking the 17th time the team has been in the final poll.
Defending national champion Nebraska tops the preseason poll with 60 of 64 possible first-place votes, followed by Texas at No. 2. The Rams will host the Longhorns, who received three first-place votes, at Moby Arena on Sept. 9. Wichita State, another CSU opponent this season, is outside the top-25 but receiving votes in the preseason poll.
CSU reported for fall camp on Tuesday, and began two-a-day practices today. The seven-time defending Mountain West champions will open the 2016 regular season with matches at home against North Dakota State on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. MT and against St. Mary’s on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.
