Colorado State to Host First & Second Rounds of NCAA Volleyball Tournament

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mountain West champion Colorado State will face Denver in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament on Friday, December 5 in Fort Collins, Colorado. The No. 9 Rams will be making their 20th consecutive appearance and 26th overall in the national postseason event. CSU is hosting for the first time since 2009. It is the 11th time the early rounds of the NCAA Tournament have been contested at Moby Arena.

CSU, the No. 15 overall seed, will play the Summit League champion Pioneers (27-6) at 6:30 p.m. MT, with the winner moving on to face either Big Sky Conference champion Northern Colorado (22-10) or Pacific-12 Conference foe Colorado (19-13) in the second round of the Minneapolis sub-regional. The winner of the second round match on Saturday, December 6 at 4:30 p.m. MT will advance to the Minneapolis Regional, hosted by Minnesota on December 12-13.

Under the direction of head coach Tom Hilbert, Colorado State finished the regular season 29-2 overall and 17-1 in conference play. The Rams earned the league’s automatic bid for the 10th time.

Colorado State has advanced to the NCAA Tournament every season since the Mountain West formed in 1999. Four current Mountain West members (Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV) have represented the league in the NCAA Tournament.
