LAS VEGAS, Nev. - In conjunction with the 2012 Mountain West Basketball Championships, the league announced San Diego State as the winner of the 2011-12 MW Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Community Service Award.

For the seventh consecutive academic year, the MW SAAC challenged each other's institution in a league-wide competition for the award. This year's contest had the league's institutions counting their total hours of assistance while participating in various service activities around their respective communities.

In total, MW institutions tallied 10,639 hours of community service. San Diego State collected 5,944 hours of service to win its second straight MW Community Service Award, while Boise State University finished second with 1,768 service hours.

The award was presented to SDSU during its men's quarterfinal round contest on Thursday, March 8.

The Conference would like to recognize the student-athlete advisory committees from all eight of its institutions for their hard work and efforts on the 2011-12 MW Community Service Project.
