Kelsey Burglund Joins Mountain West Staff
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson has announced the hiring of Kelsey Burglund as director of championships.
In her role at the Mountain West, Burglund will serve as the primary sport administrator for men’s and women’s cross country, women’s swimming & diving, women’s tennis and softball, while also assisting with the overall championships operation.
Burglund comes to the MW from the South Atlantic Conference, where she served as the director of external operations for the past year. She was the tournament director for the 2015 SAC Tennis Championships and co-tournament director of the 2014 SAC Cross Country Championships. Burglund also assisted with on-site administration for the league’s soccer and basketball tournaments and worked with the NCAA as a site representative at several Division II regional events. During her year at the Rock Hill, South Carolina-based office, she supervised the community engagement activities surrounding Conference championship events and identified avenues to enhance the SAC brand.
Prior to her time at the South Atlantic Conference, Burglund spent a year at the Mid-America Conference as a championships assistant. Burglund served as the operations manager for the MAC’s volleyball, women’s swimming & diving, baseball and softball championship events.
A native of Long Island, New York, Burglund started her career as a post-graduate intern in the athletics department at her alma mater, Buffalo, covering a variety of administrative areas, including game-day marketing and community relations. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in June 2012 from the University at Buffalo.
