Mountain West Announces Cross Country Athletes of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State’s Jefferson Abbey has been named Mountain West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, while Boise State’s Allie Ostrander earned MW Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for meets contested Sept. 26. It is the first career MW weekly accolade for Abbey and the second for Ostrander.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JEFFERSON ABBEY, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins HS
Won the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sept. 26.
Completed the 8K course in 24:51.4.
His individual victory is the first for Colorado State since Sept. 2011.
Helped the Rams to a fourth place finish in the team standings.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ALLIE OSTRANDER, BOISE STATE
Freshman, Kenai, Alaska / Kenai Central HS
Finished second in a field of 243 runners at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sept. 26.
Her time of 21:09.4 on the 6K course is the best finish by a Boise State runner at the Roy Griak Invitational. 
Led the Broncos to a team title over the 2014 national champion Michigan State by 79 points.
