Mountain West Announces Men's Golfer of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore Shintaro Ban has been selected Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played April 6-18. This is the first MW golfer of the week honor of Ban’s career.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
SHINTARO BAN, UNLV
Sophomore, San Jose, California / Archbishop Mitty HS

• Won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State on April 10 in Columbus.
• Posted a 2-over-par 144 (70-74) on the par 71, 7,455-yard OSU Golf Club Scarlet course.
• Ended up in a three-way tie for first place, then won the playoff with a birdie on the fourth hole.
• Was the first individual tournament win of his career.
• Helped No. 25 UNLV to the tournament title from the field of 26 teams.
• Tournament was shortened to 36 holes in advance of forecasted inclement weather.
