Mountain West Announces Men's Tennis Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second time this season and third time in his career, Utah State sophomore Jaime Barajas has been named Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. The award covers matches played March 3-8. 

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAIME BARAJAS, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Woodland Hills, California / El Camino Real HS 
  • Helped lead Utah State to a 2-0 week with road wins over No. 56 Pacific (6-1) and Saint Mary’s (4-0) on March 6 and March 8, respectively. 
  • Went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles action. 
  • Playing in the No. 1 singles position, defeated Sam Verbeek of Pacific, 6-5, 6-1, and Saint Mary’s Thomas Alexander Hunt, 6-4, 6-0. 
  • Partnered with Andrew Nakajima to pick up two doubles wins in the No. 3 spot, downing Pacific’s Miguel Diaz and Alex Giannini, 6-2, and Brian Lee and Manuel De Luis of Saint Mary’s, 6-2.
