Mountain West Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second consecutive week, UNLV has swept the Mountain West Women’s Soccer weekly awards. Senior Dakota Blazak was voted the Offensive Player of the Week, while fellow senior Hayley Wilson was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week for matches contested through Aug. 28. It is the second-career MW weekly accolade for Blazak and the first for Wilson. 

Senior, Forward, Las Vegas, Nevada/AIS HS
  • Helped lead UNLV to a 2-0 record last weekend at the UNLV Invitational, knocking off Northern Arizona, 3-2, and Eastern Washington, 3-1, on Aug. 26 and 28, respectively. 
  • Tallied three goals and six points on six shots in the two matches. 
  • Scored the first goal of the contest versus Northern Arizona on Friday in the Rebels’ victory. 
  • Notched two goals, including the game-winning tally in Sunday’s win over Eastern Washington. The victory helped UNLV start a season 4-0 for the first time in program history. 
  • Named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player and to the All-Tournament team at the UNLV Invitational. 

Senior, Defender, San Jose, California/Leigh HS
  • Anchored the Rebels’ backline which allowed three goals in two matches, fending off second-half rallies from both Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington on Friday and Sunday, respectively. 
  • Helped UNLV go 2-0 on the weekend. 
  • Assisted in holding both Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington below their season averages in shots per game. 
  • Added an assist on UNLV’s first goal against Northern Arizona on Friday. 
  • Named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player and to the All-Tournament team at the UNLV Invitational.
