Mountain West Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force junior forward Brooke Rittmann has been named the Mountain West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman goalkeeper Alex Best of Fresno State has been tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played through Sept. 18. It is the first-career weekly honor for both Rittmann and Best. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BROOKE RITTMANN, AIR FORCE
Junior, Forward, Livermore, California / Granada HS
  • Helped lead Air Force to a 2-1 home record last week, earning wins over Northern Arizona, 3-1, and UMass-Lowell, 2-0, on Friday and Sunday, respectively. 
  • Finished the week with three goals, one assist, seven points and six shots. 
  • Notched a goal in the Falcons’ 2-1 setback to Hawai‘i last Tuesday. 
  • Tallied a pair of goals, including the game winner versus Northern Arizona. 
  • Assisted on Air Force’s game-winning goal against UMass-Lowell. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ALEX BEST, FRESNO STATE
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Studio City, California / El Camino Real Charter
  • Helped Fresno State extend its win streak to five matches with a 2-1 victory over Saint Mary’s on Friday and a 1-0 win versus Montana on Sunday. 
  • Did not allow a goal in 139 minutes, while recording seven saves during the two matches. 
  • Entered the contest against Saint Mary’s with the scored tied 1-1. Played 49 minutes, recording a save on a penalty kick in the 74th minute and earning her first collegiate win. 
  • Notched her first collegiate shutout after tallying six saves versus Montana.
