San Diego State Receives Votes In ESPN.com/USA Softball National Poll
Thanks to a 3-2 start to the season at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona, San Diego State earned four votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll. Both of the Aztecs' losses were to ranked teams (then No. 24/24 Texas A&M and No. 7/6 UCLA), while they earned a pair of victories over Purdue (2-0 and 2-1) and a win over Idaho State (8-6).
San José State's Estrada and New Mexico's Soles Earn MW Player & Pitcher Of The Week Honors
San José State’s Sharon-Renae Estrada has been named Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while New Mexico’s Lauren Soles earned the MW Pitcher of Week honors for games held Feb. 5-8. It is the second career MW weekly accolade for Soles and first for Estrada.
Estrada went 9-for-20 (.450) at the plate with five home runs, 15 RBIs and seven runs scored as the Spartans posted a 4-2 record at the Kajikawa Classic.
Soles compiled a 2-0 record at the Kajikawa Classic as New Mexico opened the 2015 season by winning three of its first five games.
