Fresno State Receives Votes In ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA National Polls
Fresno State received seven votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll and one vote in the USA Today/NFCA Poll. The Bulldogs (11-4) posted a 4-1 record at last week's Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Fresno State's Willis And New Mexico's Sheehan Earn MW Player & Pitcher Of The Week Honors
Fresno State's Kierra Willis has been named Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while New Mexico's Carrie Sheehan earned the MW Pitcher of Week honors for games held Feb. 18-22. It is the first career MW weekly accolade for both student-athletes.
Willis went 9-for-16 (.562) with nine runs scored, five walks, two home runs and six RBIs to pace Fresno State to a 4-1 record at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.
Sheehan was 2-0 on the week with a 1.62 ERA to help New Mexico to a 4-1 record at the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic in Houston, Texas.
Colorado State's Fisher Earns Milestone Victory
Colorado State's 10-6 win over Indiana State on Saturday was head coach Jen Fisher’s 100th at CSU, becoming the third coach in school history to reach triple digits, and the second-fastest. Now in her fifth season, Fisher is 100-115, including 92-72 (.561) since the start of 2012 – the year she was named Mountain West Coach of the Year.
