Conference Play Starts Friday
Conference play for Mountain West gets underway on Friday, with four three-game series. San José State (19-11) hosts Boise State (8-22), while Utah State (7-16) takes on New Mexico (16-12) in Logan, Utah. Colorado State (18-13) welcomes Fresno State (19-10) and San Diego State (17-10) squares off with UNLV (14-14). Nevada (9-18) opens Conference play with a bye week. Eleven of the 12 MW games will be broadcast live and for free on the Mountain West Network.
Fresno State's Moss and Compton Named MW Player And Pitcher Of The Week
Fresno State's Brenna Moss has been named Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while the Bulldogs' Jill Compton earned MW Pitcher of Week honors for games held March 9-15. It is the first career MW weekly accolade for Moss and fourth for Compton.
Moss went 9-for-16 (.563) with three doubles, three runs scored and five stolen bases to help Fresno State to a 4-1 record at last week’s Fresno State Classic.
Compton posted a 2-1 record in three starts for Fresno State at last week’s Fresno State Classic. She pitched a total of 21 innings and allowed just four runs to post a 1.33 ERA.
Colorado State Win Streak Halted By Cal State Northridge
Colorado State saw its MW-best 11-game win streak ended on March 15 with a 6-2 loss to Cal State Northridge. It was the first loss in the month of March for the Rams (18-13), who last lost a game on Feb. 28 to UTEP, 9-8.
