Aztecs, Bulldogs Remain Atop MW Standings

Following a busy week of softball that saw teams play as many as six Conference games in five days, San Diego State and Fresno State remain tied atop the Mountain West standings. The Aztecs (11-4, 28-16) went 4-2 last week, including a three-game road sweep at Nevada, while Fresno State (11-4, 30-14) swept New Mexico at home and claimed two of three games at Utah State. The Bulldogs own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Aztecs, thanks to their 2-1 series victory March 27-29.

San Diego State's Jordan and Fresno State's Compton Named MW Player And Pitcher Of The Week

San Diego State’s Kayla Jordan has been named Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while Fresno State’s Jill Compton earned the MW Pitcher of Week honors for games held April 7-12. It is the third MW weekly accolade this season (and third career) for Jordan, while Compton earns her fourth weekly honor this season and seventh of her career.

Jordan Went 11-for-21 (.524) at the plate with one home run, six RBIs, 11 runs scored, four doubles, three walks, two hit by pitch and four stolen bases as San Diego State went 4-2 last week, including a three-game sweep at Nevada.

Compton pitched four complete games as Fresno State won a pair of Conference series last week; 3-0 at home against New Mexico and 2-1 on the road at Utah State.
