COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With four weeks remaining in the Mountain West Softball season, Fresno State (30-9-1, 12-0 MW) holds a four-game lead over both Nevada (30-9, 8-4 MW) and San José State (19-21, 8-4 MW) in the Conference standings. Following last weekend’s series sweep of Utah State, the Bulldogs climbed in the national rankings, moving up to No. 20 in the USA Today/NFCA Top-25 poll and to No. 22 in the Softball rankings.

Fresno State looks to remain unbeaten in MW games when it hosts Colorado State (18-19, 4-7 MW) in a three-game series, beginning on Friday at Margie Wright Diamond. If the Bulldogs are able to earn a victory on Friday, they would tie the 2006 San Diego State Aztecs for the best-ever start to Conference play at 13-0. Prior to its series versus the Rams, Fresno State travels to face Pacific in a nonconference contest on Wednesday.

Nevada and San José State square off in a battle for second place this weekend in Reno. The Wolf Pack is 9-2 overall and 5-1 in Mountain West games at home this season. In another MW series, New Mexico (20-17, 5-6 MW) hosts UNLV (20-24, 4-11 MW) in a three-game set in Albuquerque.

Utah State (19-19, 5-7 MW) has seven games on the schedule this week, beginning with a nonconference contest versus Weber State on Wednesday. The Aggies will then play two, three-game Mountain West series against Boise State (12-28, 4-8 MW) and Colorado State at LaRee & LeGrand Johnson Field in Logan.
