Mountain West Suspends New Mexico Football Student-Athlete

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico sophomore linebacker Kimmie Carson has been issued a half-game suspension for forcible contact to the head and neck area of a defenseless player, in accordance with NCAA Football Playing Rule 9-1-4, during the Utah State at New Mexico game on Saturday, Nov. 7. Carson will be prohibited from participating in the first half of the Lobos next football game, which is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 at Boise State.

The disciplinary action is a result of the weekly review conducted by the Mountain West office of all player safety fouls and falls under NCAA Football Playing Rule 9-6-2. The Mountain West will have no further comment regarding this matter.
