Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV freshman Aiwen Zhu has been named Mountain West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Tuesday, February 2. It is the first career MW weekly accolade for Zhu.

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AIWEN ZHU, UNLV
Freshman, Wuxi, China/East China University

  • Went a perfect 5-0 (three singles, two doubles victories) last week, leading UNLV to wins over New Mexico State, Weber State and Pacific.
  • Competing at the No. 1 singles position, Zhu defeated Weber State’s Agat Bachanek in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 2 singles spot, she earned two more straight-sets victories over New Mexico State’s Erika Castillo Lopez and Pacific’s Cristina Saenz de Buruaga.
  • Zhu and Carol Yang, who combined to make the Rebels No. 1 doubles team, defeated New Mexico State’s top duo of Castillo Lopez and Gabrielle Joyce 6-3 and Weber State’s Bachanek and Sara Parker 6-2.
