Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV freshman Aiwen Zhu has been named Mountain West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Tuesday, March 22. It is the second career MW weekly accolade for Zhu.

Freshman, Wuxi, China/East China University

  • Helped lead UNLV to an undefeated 2-0 week with wins over Oklahoma (5-2) and Montana (6-1), helping the Rebels set a program record rattling off 17 consecutive wins to open the season.
  • Went a combined 3-1, competing at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions and on the Rebels’ No. 1 doubles squad. Lone loss came against the top Sooners double team, losing 6-3 to Lily Miyazaki and Emma Devine.
  • Defeated No. 84 Emma Devine from Oklahoma (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 2 singles spot.
  • At the No. 1 singles spot, beat Montana’s Francis Dean in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).
  • Since January, has compiled a 14-2 singles record at the No. 1 or 2 positions, and 12 of those victories have come in straight sets.
