Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV junior Carol Zi Yang has been named Mountain West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Tuesday, March 29. It is the third career MW weekly accolade for Yang, all being earned this season.

  • Helped lead UNLV to a 4-3 victory over Hawai‘i, helping the Rebels continue their undefeated streak to 18-0.
  • Went a combined 2-0, competing at the No. 1 singles and doubles position for UNLV.
  • Teamed up with Aiwen Zhu at the top of the Rebels’ doubles lineup and won convincingly, 6-2, over Paulina Petriskova and Klara Pribylova. UNLV would eventually take the doubles point.
  • In singles action, defeated Cindy Nguyen while battling severe leg cramps, which forced her to serve underhand. With the match knotted up at 3-3, Yang came-from-behind in the third set to clinch the match for the Rebels, ultimately winning 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.
