Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week - April 19

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nevada junior Claudia Herrero has been named Mountain West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Tuesday, April 18. It is the second career MW weekly accolade for Herrero.

  • Led Nevada to a 1-1 week, with a Mountain West victory over San José State (4-3). The Wolf Pack dropped a 5-2 decision at UNLV.
  • Combined for a 4-0 week competing at the No. 1 singles position and on the No. 2 doubles squad. 
  • In singles play, defeated two nationally ranked opponents. Beat UNLV’s Carol Yang, who was ranked No. 41, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) and SJSU’s Sybille Gauvain, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 3-1 (retired). Gauvain was ranked No. 84 nationally. 
  • The victory over Gauvain clinched the match for the Wolf Pack.
  • In doubles action, won, 6-2, against the Rebels’ Carol Yang/Cristina Moroi and the Spartans’ Marine Dans/Gaelle Rey, 7-5.
