Mountain West Women's Volleyball Weekly Release
UNLV goes into the last full week of non-conference action as the only Mountain West women's volleyball team that remains undefeated. The Rebels put their 9-0 mark to the test on the road in Utah this week. UNLV opens the BYU/UVU Classic at Utah Valley on Friday night, followed by matches against CSUN and No. 9 BYU in Provo on Saturday.
UNLV is receiving votes for the second week in a row in this week's AVCA Top 25.
Best Starts: Four Mountain West teams are off to their strongest starts to the season. UNLV is having its best-ever season start at 9-0, while Air Force, at 8-2, has matched its best start in the Division I era of the program with the 1999 and 2003 teams. Fresno State (8-2) and Nevada (7-2) are both having their best season starts since the 2002 season.
We Like Big Crowds: New Mexico recorded its fourth-largest crowd in program history on Saturday, while Colorado State saw its fifth-largest crowd in Moby Arena on Friday. The Lobos, playing in WisePies Arena for the Lobo Classic, had 4,473 fans show up for their match-up with No. 1 Nebraska. The Rams hosted 6,253 of their closest friends for Friday's showdown with No. 3 Texas.
Diggin' It: New Mexico senior Julia Warren and UNLV senior Carly Riehl joined the Mountain West 1,000-career digs clublast week, joining Utah State senior Hannah Gleason in the 2016 class to reach the milestone. Gleason reached the mark in the first week of the season at the Ultra Ankle Challenge hosted by Oregon State.
Top 10 Attacks: Three Mountain West players rank 4-5-6 on the league's career attack percentage list, with a switch at 5-6 after last week's competition. Boise State junior Kaitlyn Oliver is fourth at .380, while Bronco senior Maddy O'Donnell is sixth with a .365 attack percentage. Wyoming senior Laura Beach rounds out the group in fifth place with a .369 percentage.
