Mountain West Women's Volleyball Weekly Release
Four teams remain undefeated after the first week of Mountain West conference play. UNLV, Colorado State and Wyoming are off to a 2-0 start, while San Diego State is 1-0. The Rebels are at Fresno State and San José State for week 2, while the Aztecs are on the road at Boise State and Air Force. The Rams and the Cowgirls each have one match this week, on the road at Utah State.
For the fourth week in a row, UNLV is receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Colorado State has won 63 of its last 65 Mountain West matches. The Rams have not lost to an MW opponent since Nov. 1, 2014. Also, head coach Tom Hilbert has led the Rams to an 18-2 record in Conference openers.
Wyoming senior Laura Beach was awarded the Mike English Scholarship on Saturday prior to the beginning of the Cowgirls match against Fresno State. The scholarship is awarded annually to the Wyoming senior with the highest cumulative grade-point average. The scholarship honors former Cowgirls head coach Mike English, who coached the volleyball team from 1986-93.
Colorado State's Katie Oleksak and Wyoming's Reed Copeland were named Mountain West Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on Monday. Click HERE for more on this week's honorees.
