Mountain West Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Calli Thackery has been named Mountain West Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Utah State’s Chari Hawkins earned MW Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of Week honors for the meet held April 15-18. It is the first MW weekly accolade for both student-athletes.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
CALLI THACKERY, NEW MEXICO
Junior, Yorkshire, England / Leeds Metropolitan University
- Was the second-fastest collegian, placing eighth overall, in the 5,000 Meters at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California on April 17.
- Her time of 15:42.57 is a personal best and currently ranks second in the Conference and No. 8 in the nation. It was also the third-fastest time in MW history.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
CHARI HAWKINS, UTAH STATE
Senior, Rexburg, Idaho / Madison HS
- Placed seventh in the Heptathlon, third among collegiate athletes in Division I, at the Mt. SAC Relays/CA Invitational Multi-Events in Walnut, California on April 15-16.
- Her score of 5,732 points is a personal best and the top mark in Utah State history. The record-setting performance leads the MW and 12th nationally this season.
Finished fourth in the 100 Meter Hurdles (13.55), followed by a tie for third in the High Jump (1.76 m) to begin the event. Her long jump distance of 19’-11.00” placed fourth and ranks second in the Aggies’ record book.
