Historic Start To Conference Play For Air Force

Air Force is off to a 2-0 start in Conference play for the first time in the history of the Mountain West, dating back to the league's creation in 1999. The Falcons defeated Boise State 2-0 on Sept. 26, and then followed that up with a 1-0 overtime win agianst Utah State on Sept. 28. It was the first-ever win by the Falcons over the Aggies. The Falcons swept the MW Players of the Week awards, with freshman midfielder Angela Karamanos earning the Offensive Player of the Week and freshman goalkeeper Alex Kahalley garnering Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Falcons (2-0-0, 5-4-0) play at New Mexico (1-0-1, 3-3-1) on Friday, Oct. 3, and at San Diego State (2-0-0, 7-2-1) on Sunday, Oct. 5. Those two matches, along with 10 other Conference contests this weekend, will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.

Cowgirls Open Conference Play In Style

Wyoming began its run through the 2014 Conference schedule with a 4-0 victory over Nevada on Sept. 26, and a 3-0 win against UNLV on Sept. 28. The four-goal margin of victory over the Wolf Pack was the largest for the Cowgirls (2-0-0, 4-5-1) since 2011. Wyoming sits atop the league standings with Air Force and two-time defending champion San Diego State.

Big Year For Booth

Prior to 2014, San Diego State senior Kelsey Booth had a total of five goals and 18 points in three seasons. In the Aztecs' first 10 games of 2014, Booth has scored five goals and registered 13 points.

Aztecs Tough To Beat

Thanks to a 2-0 start in Conference play, San Diego State is 32-4-3 since 2009 against MW opponents, including a 22-2-1 mark since 2011. The Aztecs (2-0-0, 7-2-1) are 9-0 at home in regular-season Conference matches the last two years. In addition to the Air Force contest mentioned above, San Diego State hosts Colorado College (1-0-1, 5-2-3) on Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. PT.
