Mountain West Women's Soccer Weekly Release
Aztecs Keep Home Unbeaten Steak Alive
San Diego State has now won 11 straight Conference matches at home, following last weekend's wins over Colorado College and Air Force. The Aztecs (4-0-0 MW, 9-2-1 overall) topped the Tigers 3-0 on Oct. 3 and then slipped past the Falcons 3-2 in double-overtime on Oct. 5. Senior midfielder Mariah Helmer scored a total of three goals in the two matches, including the game-tying and game-winning goals against Air Force. She was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
Good Weekend For Aggies, Bulldogs
San Diego State wasn't the only team to win both of its matches, as both Utah State and Fresno State enjoyed 2-0 weekends. The Aggies (2-1-1, 6-4-2) didn't allow a goal against either Wyoming or Colorado State. Utah State topped the Cowgirls 2-0 on Oct. 3 and the Rams 1-0 on Oct. 5. As for Fresno State (2-2, 3-10), they snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 1-0 win at UNLV on Oct. 3, and followed that up with a 3-2 double-overtime victory at Nevada on Oct. 5.
Falcons End Drought Against Lobos
With its 1-1 draw against New Mexico on Oct. 3, Air Force snapped its 10-match losing streak to New Mexico, dating back to the 2004 season. Down 1-0 after a goal by New Mexico's Alyssa Coonrod in the 44th minute, the Falcons netted the game-tying goal in the 66th minute off the foot of Morgan Mavroudis.
