  • There are a handful of Mountain West teams competing before the winter break. Air Force is competing at the AT&T USA Winter Nationals, while Wyoming is at the Texas Invitational this weekend. Also, Boise State is at the Jean Freeman Minnesota Invitational and UNLV hosts Arizona State on Saturday, Dec. 6.
  • New Mexico will compete at the UNLV Winter Invitational on Dec. 13-15.
  • Competition will resume on Monday, Dec. 29 with Air Force, Incarnate Word and UC San Diego at San Diego State.
  • In the most recent Collegeswimming.com national rankings, Boise State is sitting at No. 15, followed by San Diego State at No. 22 in the Top 25.
  • How are the teams doing so far this season?
    Air Force – 2-4 – took third place at the TYR Invitational at Northwestern (Nov. 21-23)
    Boise State – 3-0 – took fourth place at Texas A&M Art Adamson Invitational (Nov. 20-22)
    Colorado State – 3-3 – placed tenth at Georgia Tech Fall Invitational (Nov. 20-22)
    Fresno State – 3-3 – placed eighth at A3 Invitational (Nov. 20-22)
    Nevada – 5-0 (best start since the 2011-12 season)
    New Mexico – 5-2 – placed seventh at Mizzou Invitational (Nov. 20-22)
    San Diego State – 9-0 (won 68 of last 69 dual meets) – won the A3 Invitational (Nov. 20-22)
    San José State – 5-0 – took fifth place at A3 Invitational (Nov. 20-22)
    UNLV – 1-2 – finished ninth at Mizzou Invitational (Nov. 20-22) Wyoming – 6-0
  • Air Force sophomore Genevieve Miller set a Falcon record and a pool record on Nov. 21 in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.96 at the TYR Invitational at Northwestern. AFA rookie Maria Schroeder also set a school record in the same meet with a time of 54.77 in the 100 butterfly on Nov. 22 before doing a reset at the AT&T USA Winter Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. with a new time of 54.57 in the Dec. 5 morning session.
  • Boise State junior Sam Wicks set a pair of Bronco records, first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.83) on Nov. 20 and in the 100-yard backstroke (52.92) on Nov. 21 in the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, Texas.
  • San Diego State defended its A3 Performance Invitational (formerly the Arena Invitational) title behind five wins by sophomore Anika Apostalon, including a 100-backstroke time of 52.10 that ranked the fastest in the nation at the time (Nov. 21).
  • While pushing San José State to a fifth-place finish at the A3 Performance Invitational, Riley Spitser set Spartan records in the 500-yard freestyle (4:46.10) and 1,650-yard freestyle (16:34.72).
  • Wyoming junior Molly Coonce recorded a school-best in the 100-yard butterfly (53.33) on Dec. 4 to lead the Cowgirls at the Texas Invitational.
  • Several Mountain West swimmers are ranked among the Top-25 in the nation in their respective events, according to USASwimming.com:
