CSU In Top 10: Colorado State dropped three spots to No. 10 in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll this week. The Rams have made 71 appearances in the top 10 over the program’s history, ranking 19th among all Division I teams. CSU’s 23 wins are tied for the most in the nation with Western Kentucky (23-5).

Two With 20 Wins: Colorado State has recorded 20 wins for the 20th consecutive season. Entering the year, the streak ranked fifth in the nation. UNLV became the second MW team to reach the 20-win mark this season after a 3-1 victory over then-No. 7 Colorado State on November 1. It is the Rebels’ first win in program history over a Top-10 opponent.

Road Streak Ends At 27: Colorado State had its nation-leading, true road win streak of 27 matches halted on November 1 by UNLV (3-1). The Rams had pushed their overall regular season win streak away from Moby Arena to 32 earlier in the week with a 3-2 victory at San Diego State.

Glenn Records 1,000 Kills-1,000 Digs: UNLV senior Daryn Glenn became the seventh Mountain West and first UNLV student-athlete to master 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. Glenn joins the elite group of Conference players after recording her 1,000th kill at Fresno State on October 25.

Riddle Closing In On Record: New Mexico senior Chantale Riddle currently has 1,515 kills and is 65 away from becoming the Lobos’ all-time kill leader. Tania Gooley (1991-94) holds the record of 1,579. Riddle is 106 kills from the Mountain West record of 1,620 set by Utah’s Kim Turner (2000-03).

Boise State Sets MW Single Match Hitting Mark: Boise State set a Mountain West record on October 18 with a team attack percentage of .603 (53k-6e-78att) against Fresno State. The previous record was .596 (39k-5e-57att) set by Colorado State versus Air Force on November 16, 2000.

Coaching Milestones: New Mexico head coach Jeff Nelson earned his 150th career victory as the Lobos’ leader on October 25 against San José State. He is six wins away from his 400th overall victory. UNLV head coach Cindy Fredrick is five wins away from her 500th overall and San Diego State head coach Deidre Collins-Parker is two away from her 100th with the Aztecs. Grayson DuBose, the head coach at Utah State, is eight wins away from his 150th overall and Aggies’ victory. Boise State head coach Shawn Garus earned his 200th overall win earlier in the season on October 9.

Promoting Cancer Awareness: Each team in the Mountain West is promoting awareness for a cure for breast cancer during the month of October at select home matches. UNLV took things a step further to include the fight for all forms of cancer. Throughout the month each team member with a friend or family member battling cancer has been featured on the UNLV Volleyball social media channels announcing who they are playing for in the fight for a cure. Another MW student-athlete affected by the disease is New Mexico senior Chantale Riddle. Riddle’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in March.

Culbert Named espnW National Player of the Week: Colorado State junior Adrianna Culbert was named the espnW Volleyball Player of the Week on October 15.

Senior CLASS Award: Wyoming middle blocker Erin Kirby has been selected as a candidate for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate volleyball. Kirby is one of 30 student-athletes named to the list. Candidates must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS is the acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®.
