New Mexico continues to receive votes (5 points) in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll after a 2-1 start. The Lobos’ lone loss came at the hands of then-No. 2 Texas. UNM faces two Top 25 opponents this week in No. 20 Hawai‘i (Thursday) and No. 22 Oregon (Saturday).

Wyoming ended the 2013 season with a seven-match win streak, the longest for the Cowgirls in conference play in program history. The overall win streak has been extended to 11 as Wyoming began the 2014 season 4-0. The 11-match streak is the second-longest in school history.

Utah State opened the season with a sell-out crowd of 1,400 in the newly-opened Kirby Court at Wayne Estes Center on Friday, August 29. The Aggies defeated Idaho State 3-1 in the home opener.

Air Force honored an alumnae over the weekend with the Falcon Classic, in honor of Amy Svoboda. Svoboda was a 1989 graduate and four-year winner on the Air Force volleyball team, who was killed during an A-10 training accident in 1997. Svoboda, who earned MVP honors during her senior season with the Falcons, was one of the first 14 female fighter pilots in the Air Force and one of the first six to fly the A-10. Members of Svoboda’s family joined the current Falcons during the tournament this past weekend.
