The Mountain West Network will stream three MW matches this week. All matches will be streamed live and are free to view on

Colorado State jumped six spots in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll to No. 8. It is the second season in a row that the Rams have been ranked in the Top 10. CSU spent five weeks last season in the Top 10, peaking at No. 9.

For the third week in a row, Colorado State will face a Top 25 opponent when they play No. 18 Arizona State in Tempe on Friday evening. CSU beat then-No. 9 BYU on September 12 (3-1) and lost to then-No. 4 Wisconsin on September 6 (3-0).

Mountain West blockers are continuing the tradition of being some of the best in the nation. Utah State’s Elle Brainard, New Mexico’s Chantale Riddle and UNLV’s Bree Hammel rank among the Top 15 in the NCAA this week. Brainard ranks fifth in blocks per set (1.67) and ninth in total blocks (55), while Hammel is fourth in total blocks (59) and 14th in blocks per set (1.55). Riddle sits at ninth in blocks per set with a 1.61 average.

Utah State senior Kaitlyn VanHoff needs just 19 total blocks to take over as the Aggies’ career leader in the category. She has 458 total blocks over her USU career, closing in on the record of 477 held by Denae Mohlman (1997-2000). VanHoff became USU’s career record holder in block assists on September 6.

Air Force senior Hillary Keltner recorded her 30th career double-double on September 13 at Saint Louis with 42 assists and 10 digs. Keltner is the Falcon Division I record holder in the category. She is also the career leader among active Mountain West players.

Wyoming middle blocker Erin Kirby has been selected as a candidate for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate volleyball. Kirby is one of 30 student-athletes named to the list. Candidates must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS is the acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®.
