MW Women's Golf Championship Tees Off Thursday
The 2014 Mountain West Women's Golf Championship will be played on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club (par 72, 6,324 yards) in Rancho Mirage, Calif., April 24-26. It is the second straight year the tournament will be held at Mission Hills.
All nine Mountain West teams will participate in the 54-hole championship. 18 holes will be played each day (Thursday-Saturday), with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. PT.
Defending champion UNLV enters the tournament ranked 45th according to Golfstat and is in search of its fifth Mountain West title overall. San Diego State is No. 43 in the Golfstat rankings and is looking for its first-ever MW championship. No. 71 New Mexico won three straight MW crowns from 2008-10 and seven overall (2000-03). No. 70 San José State joined the Conference in July 2013 and will be making its first appearance at the MW Women's Golf Championship. Rounding out the contingent will be Boise State (No. 111), Fresno State (No. 102), Colorado State (No. 129, Nevada (No. 119) and Wyoming (No. 161).
Eight of last year's top-10 finishers return in 2014, led by New Mexico's Manon DeRoey and UNLV's Demi Mak, who met in an individual playoff to conclude the 2013 tournament at 7-over-par 223. Nevada's Nikki Prichard and UNLV's Mayko Chwen Wang tied for fourth in last year's event at 9-over 225, while San Diego State's Paige Spiranac took sixth at 10-over 226. Nevada's Carly Simpson placed seventh in last year's field at 11-over 227, while UNLV's Dana Finkelstein and Boise State's Samantha Martin both posted identical scores of 12-over 228 to tie for ninth.

FANS AND MEDIA ATTENDING 2014 MW WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
Fans and members of the media should be familiar with golf course etiquette. Admission is free, but the use of golf carts is prohibited. Media must coordinate interviews through the MW media relations contact. Photographers must request a credential from the MW office and should obtain the rules and regulations before proceeding on the course.
