USTFCCCA Announces Indoor Track & Field All-Americans
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the list of student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-America honors for the 2014 indoor season based on their performance at this past weekend’s NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
First-team honors were given to those who placed in the championships’ top eight in an event or were a member of an eight-person final. Second team honors were earned by those who finished between ninth and 16th place. In addition, 14 men and four women earned honorable mention honors.
All 13 Mountain West student-athletes that competed in the 2014 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships earned All-America status, including six that were named to the first team. Boise State’s Emma Bates was honored with two first-team awards, as she placed fourth in both the 3000 and 5000 Meters. San Diego State’s Shanieka Thomas (Triple Jump – National Champion), Air Force’s Joey Uhle (Pole Vault – 7th); Wyoming’s Mason Finley (Shot Put – 4th); New Mexico’s Luke Caldwell (5000 Meters – 6th) and Kendall Spencer (Long Jump – 8th) took home first-team accolades.
Earning second-team honors were Colorado State’s Trevor Brown (60 Hurdles – 13th); Kiah Hicks (Weight Throw – 15th) and Justin Green (Heptathlon – 13th). New Mexico’s Adam Bitchell (5000 Meters – 9th) and Elmar Engholm (Mile – 8th); San Diego State’s Allison Reaser (Pentathlon – 15th) and Utah State’s Chari Hawkins (Pentathlon – 14th).
