Fresno State Wins Second Consecutive Mountain West SAAC Community Service Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced Fresno State as the winner of the 2013-14 MW Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Community Service Award.

For the ninth consecutive academic year, the MW SAAC challenged each other’s institution in a league-wide competition for the award. This year’s contest had the league’s institutions counting their total hours of assistance while participating in various service activities around their respective communities.

From July 2013 through February 2014, 11 MW institutions tallied 24,470 hours of community service. Fresno State registered 4,225 hours of service to wins its second consecutive MW SAAC Community Service Award.  Utah State University finished second with 3,686 service hours and the University of Nevada finished third with 3,398 hours.

The award will be presented to representatives from Fresno State during its men’s basketball team’s opening contest at the 2014 Reese’s Mountain West Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Mountain West would like to recognize the student-athlete advisory committees from all 11 of its institutions for their hard work and efforts on the 2013-14 MW SAAC Community Service Project.
