Aggies, Rams Return To Action

Utah State and Colorado State both return to the diamond after sitting out last weekend. The Aggies (4-2), have actually been off for two weeks, their last game was a 6-0 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 9. The Rams (7-3), meanwhile, moved up from fourth-place to first-place without playing a game last week.

Wolf Pack Leading The Way

Nevada can credit its 10-5 start laregly to the success of its offense. The Wolf Pack currently lead the Conference in team batting average (.328), hits (134), runs (115), total bases (218), home runs (16), doubles (28), RBIs (101), walks (75), slugging percentage (.534) and on-base percentage (.439). Nevada has scored five or more runs in 11 of its 15 games, and eclipsed the 10-run barrier five times.

Jackson Goes Long

San Diego State senior right fielder Patrice Jackson has put on an impressive power dispaly to start the 2014 season. Jackson belted her MW-leading seventh home run of the season in the Aztecs’ 6-0 win over Oklahoma State on Feb. 23. Jackson’s slugging percentage is 1.114, tops in the league, and she’s fifth in batting average at .457.

O'Toole Is Dealing

San Diego State sophomore left-handed pitcher Danielle O’Toole continues to lead the Conference in strikeouts. She fanned nine Oklahoma State batters in the Aztecs’ 6-0 win on Feb. 23, running her season total to 60. That’s 20 more than the next-closest player. Her nine wins and 69.2 innings pitched also lead the league, while her 1.51 ERA ranks second.
