Compton Tosses No-Hitter
Fresno State sophomore right-hander Jill Compton threw the 71st no-hitter in school history on April 23, blanking San José State 2-0. Compton, who struck out seven, has pitched seven shutouts this season for the Bulldogs. It is her second career no-hitter, with her first coming against St. Mary’s on Feb. 23, 2013.
Clogged At The Top
Colorado State and Fresno State are tied atop the MW standings with a 10-5 Conference mark. Four teams are within two games of first-place, starting with Boise State and UNLV. Both clubs are 11-7 in league play and sit one-half game out of first. San Diego State (9-6) is a game game and San José State (8-7) is two games back.
Broncos Runnin' Wild
Boise State broke the MW record for stolen bases in a season on April 23 against Utah State. Jordan Krieger’s steal of second base in the sixth inning of the Broncos’ 11-9 victory gave them 88 steals on the year. They swiped five more bags in the nightcap to pus their total to 93.
Boise State Walks To A Win
The Broncos recorded just three hits in their April 23 game against Utah State, but thanks to a MW- and school-record 17 walks, were able to score 10 runs to win the game 10-1 in five innings. The 17 walks is tied for ninth-most in a game in NCAA history.
