Rain, Rain, Rain Wouldn't Go Away

Rain, and a lot of it, made its way to Southern California and Nevada last weekend. The only downside to the much-needed moisture is that it washed away nearly the entire MW softball schedule. A staggering 26 of 40 scheduled games were postponed due to the inclement weather. Fresno State (10-5) was hit hardest by the postponments, as they had all five of its games rained out and did not play last week.

Aggies Finally Back In Action

Utah State was another team that saw its entire weekend slate of games wiped out by weather. Thankfully for the Aggies, who last played on Feb. 9, they were able to schedule to games on Monday, March 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah, versus Mississippi and Utah. Utah State dropped the first game to the Rebels 5-0, but rallied to win the nightcap against the host Utes 8-5. It was Utah State’s first win versus Utah since 2008.

Lobos Enjoy Some Home-Cooking

After spending a month on the road, New Mexico played its first home games of the 2014 season last weekend, as they hosted Idaho State and Buffalo in the New Mexico Invitational. The Lobos won three of the four games, with freshman third baseman Jasmine Casados leading the way with a .538 batting average (7-of-13) and six runs batted in.
