Boise State, Fresno State To Represent MW In 2014 NCAA Men's And Women's Tennis Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The men’s tennis team from Boise State and the women’s tennis team from Fresno State will represent the Mountain West in the 2014 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Team Championships.

The No. 25 Broncos and Bulldogs earned the Conference’s automatic bids by winning their respective titles at the 2014 Mountain West Tennis Championships last week at the Sierra Sport & Racquet Club in Fresno, Calif. This is Fresno State’s 16th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and 15th for Boise State.

First- and second-round competition will be conducted Friday-Sunday, May 9-11, for both the men and women. The winner at each regional site will advance to the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Team Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., May 16-20.

At the Los Angeles Tennis Center in Los Angeles, Calif., Boise State (28-4) plays San Diego (17-7), while host and sixth-seed UCLA (22-3) faces Cal Poly (11-12). The winners of the two first-round contests will meet the following day.

For the women, Fresno State (16-8) will take on Michigan (21-4) at Marks Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Host and 16th-seed USC (16-7) squares off with Idaho (19-5). If the Bulldogs - winners of their past 12 matches - take down the Wolverines, they will face either the Trojans or Vandals in the second round.

Dates and times for Boise State and Fresno State’s matches will be announced in the coming days.
